Hello Friend!
We just wrapped up our week back to school after spring break. I had planned to have a poetry tea time with friends but in spring fashion it was a rainy day so I rescheduled. The plan was to meet at a park so you can see how rain put a damper on that plan.
However, I decided to make refreshers for everyone to go along with our donut holes. And we had our weekly poetry time at home.
If you missed the episode about poetry tea(treat) time in our home you can
I love coffee but the past two trips to Starbucks I have been ordering and loving their energy refreshers. Best afternoon pick me up.
So I decided to make my own copycat version for myself and also for the kids, minus the energy part. So for theirs I used raspberry lemonade, plain sparkling water, and topped it with freeze dried strawberries.
They all enjoyed it.
We talked about the variations we want to try out next.
These are the little things that I enjoy incorporating into our home because they can become a tradition without much effort.
Spring poetry time with refreshers. How easy is that?
I’ve been reading….
My teen daughter recommended Just Friends by Haley Pham. She read the book in one day (teen life). I read it over our spring break. It was a very calm and sweet read.
Homeschool win…
Besides our poetry tea, aka refresher, time I enjoyed learning about flower farms from the unit study Farming and Food. I shared about this study on this podcast episode.
Although, I do not use this unit study as it was created to be used, which is as a unit study covering a variety of subjects, it is the perfect kind of fit for our morning time/ gathering time.
Speaking of which, this past week I sat down to share the benefits of implementing morning time into our home.
Homeschooling has been less about doing “school” at home and more about forming our family culture of learning together- making memories, forming traditions, and creating rhythms that anchor our days.
Morning time has been one such rhythm that anchors our homeschooling days.
You can read about it on the blog
or
listen to the episode.
Final thoughts……
These past few weeks I have been working on the blog and website, Graceformotherhood.com. It is a really beautiful space but it still needs work. The blog is up and running and you can find some homeschooling posts there.
My hope for that space is to offer you practical resources and inspiration for your motherhood and homeschooling journey.
I will be working on the website over the next few months.
Also, I started a chat on substack. If you have any morning time questions or any homeschooling questions post them there. I would love to answer them on the podcast or blog.
